Metro means local government. The Metro Districts' commitment to the community is shown daily through the provision of the highest quality municipal services in the most cost-efficient manner. The five geographic districts are a vital part of the growing and thriving community of Highlands Ranch.

Areas of responsibility include: arterial road and traffic signal construction; contract emergency and fire protection services; construction and maintenance of parks & trail systems; outdoor recreation and sports programming; arterial fencing and landscaping; non-urban areas; and water and wastewater services.

Douglas County provides police protection, street maintenance, public street snow removal, traffic signal maintenance, and regional park maintenance.

Highlands Ranch Community
Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA)

HRCA provides services and facilities that protect and enhance the quality, value, desirability and attractiveness of property with the community association area. The HRCA also performs functions for the benefit of the community and improves the quality of life in Highlands Ranch.

Responsibilities include the management and maintenance of recreation facilities; recreation programming; architectural review of residential improvements; covenant enforcement; development review; assessment billing and collection; community leadership and community events.

Law Enforcement
Douglas County Sheriff
The Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement, investigative and detentions functions throughout the County. In addition, we provide communications dispatch services for eight fire departments that serve both Douglas and Arapahoe County.

Our policing objective is to help unite the community with public safety professionals so that we may all work together to solve and prevent crime, resolve problems with increasing effectiveness, and provide for the diverse public safety needs of our community. By working together as a community, the men and women of the Sheriff's Office want to provide the highest possible level of service to all citizens and visitors of Douglas County.

We will continue to ask the citizens of Douglas County for their ideas and input on how we can better serve them, we value everyone's input.
